{"id":11072,"date":"2021-07-26T14:57:21","date_gmt":"2021-07-26T21:57:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/gkfhf3spiv.wpdns.site\/?p=11072"},"modified":"2021-07-26T15:05:25","modified_gmt":"2021-07-26T22:05:25","slug":"encourage","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dev.reliantcreative.org\/medical-ambasadors\/old-site\/encourage\/","title":{"rendered":"Encourage One Another"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>&#8220;Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.\u201d <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>&#8211; <\/em>1 Thessalonians 5:11<\/p>\n<p>In a recent newsletter, Dayo Obaweya, MAI\u2019s Regional Coordinator for West Africa, writes the following:<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;To be involved with mission and see a sudden change in the political, economic, and social situation of the people could be depressing (just to use mild language). People\u2019s lives had been affected negatively almost eroding the gains of yesteryears. We suddenly began to meet so many people that had lost their jobs, their means of livelihood and family members, as we travelled within country. The desire to be divorced has increased among spouses and there are increased rifts between parents and children.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>This statement could also be made about many other countries, including the United States.\u00a0 No one would argue that the past year has been tough for humankind throughout the world.\u00a0 There is no greater time than the present to encourage each other.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Exodus 17:8-13 tells the story of Joshua\u2019s battle with the Amalekites: <strong><em><sup>8\u00a0<\/sup><\/em><\/strong><em>The Amalekites\u00a0came and attacked the Israelites at Rephidim.\u00a0<strong><sup>9\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>Moses said to Joshua, \u201cChoose some of our men and go out to fight the Amalekites. Tomorrow I will stand on top of the hill with the staff of God in my hands.\u201d\u00a0<\/em><strong><em><sup>10\u00a0<\/sup><\/em><\/strong><em>So Joshua fought the Amalekites as Moses had ordered, and Moses, Aaron and Hur\u00a0went to the top of the hill.\u00a0<strong><sup>11\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>As long as Moses held up his hands, the Israelites were winning,\u00a0but whenever he lowered his hands, the Amalekites were winning.\u00a0<strong><sup>12\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>When Moses\u2019 hands grew tired, they took a stone and put it under him and he sat on it. Aaron and Hur held his hands up\u2014one on one side, one on the other\u2014so that his hands remained steady till sunset.\u00a0<strong><sup>13\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>So Joshua overcame the Amalekite\u00a0army with the sword.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>How encouraging it must have been for Joshua, who was on the front line of battle to know that he was not alone. Moses was there with the staff of God held high.\u00a0 Aaron and Hur stood on each side of Moses helping him keep his hands steady for as long as it took to bring victory.<\/p>\n<p><strong>This Biblical event provides context to the work being done through Community Health Evangelism (CHE).<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Over 2.5 million people in over 75 countries are not alone as they fight the battles of poverty, depression and illness.
