God\u2019s Word is full of scripture that encourage us to take action.\u00a0 An example is found in Colossians 3:23-24 \u201cWhatever you\u00a0do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

Not only does God want us to take action, but he assures us that when we do take action, he will be our strength.\u00a0 \u201cI can do all thing through Christ who strengthens me.\u201d Philippians 4:13<\/p>\n

Dayo Obaweya, the Regional Coordinator for West Africa Region, shares a story from Ghana about a community whose actions resulted in better travel conditions.<\/p>\n

A local village in the Bolga region of Ghana had been without a good road leading to their community. Community Health Evangelism (CHE) trainers, led by Pastor Clement and a committee, decided that instead of sitting around and complaining, it was time to do something about it. They went home, got their shovels and began working on the road.\u00a0 Very soon, others were inspired and joined them.<\/p>\n

Many years ago, in challenging people to take the initiative for self-action, M. K. Gandhi said, \u201cwe are the people, we are waiting for\u201d. The people of this Bolga village are not waiting anymore. They now have an improved road on which to travel.<\/p>\n

An essential core value of CHE is the use of locally available resources. When people cultivate resources that they already have, they strengthen their self-sufficiency and can teach others by their example.\u00a0 We are happy to see this core value demonstrated through this community.<\/p>\n
