Often, we have been asked how we manage to get so much done with our limited resources. And our answer is simple: We have many amazing volunteers who work with us and help get the work done. \"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

MAI has a list of 18 volunteers who live close to our office in Salida, and they faithfully come to the office every month to help with stuffing envelopes. Others come by the office to help with different tasks in different departments. This month we would like to tell you about Vicki Bishop and why she is so committed to volunteering at MAI.<\/p>\n

MAI values our CHE volunteers on the field, but also wants to recognize the ones we have at our home base! An especially impressive volunteer is Vicki, who has been completely blind since she was a baby and who has a huge heart for MAI.<\/p>\n

As someone with a background in transcribing for doctors and familiar with medicine, Vicki already started to feel a fondness for the organization. Moreover, she recognizes how valuable MAI\u2019s approach is:<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>\u201cIt\u2019s the most effective evangelism method that I\u2019ve ever found. You don\u2019t just give communities resources; you teach them how to be sustainable!<\/p>\n

In my personal life, the most effective help I ever received \u2013 as a totally blind person \u2013 was the kind of help that taught me how to take care of myself, how to travel independently, living skills that taught me how to live in my own home, college skills that helped me get my own textbooks. Those are all things that if stuff is done for a person, they don\u2019t become independent, they become dependent.\u201d<\/p>\n

Thanks to Vicki\u2019s desire to be helpful towards the people around her and those that taught her how to sustain herself, she\u2019s transcribed both for hospitals in her career and helped transcribe for MAI as well; today she is a prayer warrior and helps proofread each Prayer Ambassador Guide that goes out. We are truly grateful for her servant heart and love for Christ!<\/p>\n

And we are also grateful for over 51,000+ CHE volunteers who serve in over 2,600+ communities across 75 countries where MAI works!<\/p>\n

Colossians 3:23-24 says, \u201cWhatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive an inheritance as your reward\u201d. This is the spirit with which our volunteers serve both in the US and abroad. It is their efforts, prayer and love that keep us going.<\/p>\n
