What if the future of the Church depends not just on who we preach to, but on who we welcome?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Throughout Scripture, we see that Jesus didn\u2019t just preach to the crowds\u2014He noticed the overlooked, welcomed the outcasts, and honored those whom society dismissed. In\u00a0Mark 10:14<\/em>, He gives a powerful rebuke to His own disciples:<\/p>\n

“Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.”<\/em><\/p>\n

But what happens when we, like the disciples, unintentionally push children aside in our ministry efforts?<\/p>\n

That\u2019s exactly what a group of church leaders in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) realized during a recent training session.<\/p>\n

A Divine Lesson in the Value of Children<\/strong><\/h3>\n

These leaders were preparing for an important mission trip to a remote area where many were coming to Christ. They were eager to plant churches and disciple new believers, but they recognized a major gap\u2014there was no ministry specifically for women and children.<\/p>\n

They knew this was important, but they hadn\u2019t considered how their own attitudes toward children might be shaping the church\u2019s future.<\/p>\n

That changed when an MAI trainer came to facilitate a lesson on\u00a0\u201cThe Value of Children in the Scriptures.\u201d<\/em>\u00a0Before the session even began, one of her colleagues led a devotional\u2014on the very same passage\u2014where Jesus welcomes and blesses the children. The timing was nothing short of divine.<\/p>\n

As the lesson unfolded, the participants\u2014mostly men, with only one woman in the group\u2014began to see themselves in the story. They had been acting just like the disciples, unintentionally sidelining children rather than embracing them as an essential part of the Church.<\/p>\n

A New Commitment to the Next Generation<\/strong><\/h3>\n

By the end of the session, these leaders\u2019 perspectives had completely shifted. What started as an academic lesson turned into a deeply personal realization\u2014they needed to make changes.<\/p>\n

They left with a renewed vision, committing to:
\n✅\u00a0Intentionally include children in their ministry efforts.<\/strong>
\n✅\u00a0Develop women\u2019s and children\u2019s programs in the new churches they were planting.<\/strong>
\n✅\u00a0See children not as distractions but as disciples.<\/strong><\/p>\n

While the long-term impact is still unfolding, the immediate response was powerful. These leaders, once unsure about how to engage with children\u2019s ministry, are now determined to prioritize and invest in the next generation.<\/p>\n
